Week 32: This week your baby is starting to practice breathing
This week your baby is starting to practice breathing. Even though lung development isn’t yet complete, your baby is moving its little diaphragm to breathe. This practice is preparing your baby for its first gasp of fresh air after birth. In addition, the fine peachlike lanugo hair that has been covering your baby’s body is starting to shed and more subcutaneous fat deposits continue to make your baby’s skin increasingly opaque. Even though your baby is still developing, it already looks like the baby you will meet in a few weeks.

Food of the Week: Brown and Wild Rice

A scrumptious and different way of enjoying brown rice as part of your pregnancy diet. Enjoy the brown rice loaf hot or cold, on its own or accompanied by steamed greens or grilled tempeh, chicken or fish. It’s great for lunch the next day topped with an egg, salad veg, kimchi or olives.
Wild Rice Tabbouleh
The nuttiness and distinctive texture of wild rice make it a versatile and satisfying grain. Even though wild rice is usually associated with wintry dishes, this salad is a great way to incorporate whole grains in your pregnancy diet during the warmer months. The combination of fresh herbs, tomato and cucumber really make this salad zing.
